Previously, he served as the Associate Director of Events for the Department of Alumni Affairs and Development of Harvard University. His portfolio included producing high-touch donor development and stewardship events for the University's most generous donors. His specialization included developing cross-departmental relationships and collaborations focused on showcasing student and faculty excellence at unique venues across campus.
From 2012 to 2023, Matt managed events and programs for the Hutchins Center for African and African American Research which included public lectures, film screenings, musical performances, conferences, exhibitions, social events, and ceremonies. Under the direction of Prof. Henry Louis Gates Jr., he was responsible for producing events and programs whose stakeholders included students, faculty, administration, donors, and the public. Standing out from his portfolio was the Hutchins Center presents the W. E. B. Du Bois Medal Ceremony and private gala celebration which took place annually at Sanders Theatre and the Harvard Art Museum. He is proud to have managed a diverse team of staff, contractors, and volunteers for these events honoring medalists that included Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Oprah Winfrey, Governor Deval Patrick, Steven Spielberg, Harry Belafonte, Queen Latifah, LL COOL J, Muhammad Ali, and the late Representative John Lewis. As many Hutchins Center events were free and open to the public, he worked continually to extend outreach and accessibility to communities outside of the University and utilized his Spanish fluency to welcome guests and attendees.
Throughout his professional experience, Matt has succeeded at managing programs and events that build community, encourage interaction, and connect diverse audiences while showcasing the work of highly talented individuals at the tops of their fields.
